Return to Faculty of Art Program Guides

Students admitted to OCAD prior to September 2005 who are completing the Faculty of Art diploma program may choose to pursue the AOCAD diploma in the Fine Art (No Major) program or in one of the following majors: Drawing & Painting, Integrated Media, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture/Installation.

Students admitted to the Bachelor of Fine Arts prior to September 2005 may complete a BFA with no major.

Students pursuing a Fine Art (No Major) degree or diploma are able to tailor a studio education with optimum flexibility. This flexibility is well suited to students seeking to maximize the breadth of their studio experience. It is an option generally geared to students who already hold another Degree or Diploma.

At the 200-level, students choose and pursue one focus area (DRPT, INTM, PHOT, PRNT or SCIN) and are expected to accumulate a specified number of credits and build upon their expertise in that same focus area throughout the learning levels. In their final year of studies, students take advanced level Studio courses in lieu of Thesis Research and Thesis Presentation courses.

Students should review prerequisites for 300- and 400-level Studio courses in order to make informed decisions on course selection. Please note that some courses have a priority registration period of two weeks.

With the exception of GART 3B01 this priority registration applies solely to other Program Majors.
