The Social Sciences Minor enables students to master a Second Teachable subject that they can combine with their major in Art or Design to pursue teaching careers at the secondary or primary levels. Additionally, students may find that adding Social Sciences as a second area of expertise to their studies at OCAD University will further prepare them for graduate studies. The Social Sciences are increasingly important in design practice. Social Science subjects have emerged a key addition to practice-based studio degrees as they open up new career opportunities in design ethnography, marketing and other design-based consultancy applications that rely on Social Science methodologies and practices.
