Prerequisite: ENVR 2K01 Exploration Studio/Personal Space (mimimum grade of 60%) or ENVR 2B17 Exploration Studio/Personal Space (mimimum grade of 60%) and 3.0 first year studio and 1.0 first year liberal studies credits (including the Writing course with a passing grade of 60%) |

Corequisite: Students are required to register for the Exploration Studio/Social Space Lab, working in either metal or wood, which was not taken in the fall. (3 hrs per week) |

Using the design knowledge gained in the fall Research Studio, students will learn creative methods in the design of large scale social spaces, including architecture, urban design and landscape. Emphasis will be placed on the concept and the three-dimensional development of form. Projects will require students to develop, present and build models of their work in order to develop a full understanding of human interaction with utilization of social spaces. Experimentation will involve the design and siting of multiple, inter-related buildings, landscape and urban design. When registering for ENVR 2B19, students must choose whichever accompanying lab was not taken in the fall (either Metal or Wood). In these labs, students are introduced to the tools, machinery, materials and processes related to fabricating. |
