The capacity to manipulate and synthesize images from a vast number of sources allows artists increased latitude in generating visual ideas for paintings. Students use digital cameras, tablets and scanners to gather images from a range of sites, exploring the process of translating images from the analog to the digital and back again. Experimenting with advanced features of Photoshop, students create both compositional studies and finished digital works. Other digital techniques such as 3D, animation and projection will be considered as tools to expand the painter's vocabulary. |
