This course will introduce students to the impact of feminism on the production, reception, and exhibition of art. Topics to be addressed include the social construction of gender in art and visual culture; the confluence of race, class, and sexual identity; the critical reevaluation of craft practices; feminist contributions to the development of installation and performance art; and contemporary feminist art from a global perspective. |
