Painting & Digital Imaging 2: Production

Prerequisite: DRPT2B39 Painting and Digital Imaging 1 and Contemporary Issues: Art Today
This intermediate course will focus on 2D and 3D imaging software as experimental tools for drawing & painting practice. Students will learn diverse techniques such as modelling, texturing, lighting, rendering and animation, and apply these techniques to create preparatory sketches for traditional painting or to produce finished digital and hybrid works. Through in-class discussion, readings and written assignments, students will explore the relation of painting to digital media and reflect on the conceptual ramifications of working digitally.
Notes: Students who have taken DRPT 3C15 Painting & Digital Imaging 2 may not take may not take this course for credit. Priority in registration is given to Digital Painting and Expanded Animation (DPXA): Integrated Media and Digital Painting and Expanded Animation (DPXA): Drawing & Painting Specialization students.
