Prerequisite: ADVR 4C01 Advertising Concept 5 (minimum grade of 60%)
and 13.0 credits, including all first-year and second-year requirements (10.0 credits)
Corequisite: ADVR 4B08 Retail Branding Project
Advertising Concept 6 continues the exploration of the Convergence Culture in Advertising with a focus on completing larger projects that are worthy as portfolio pieces.
The course content concentrates on how media creators and consumers understand and make use of the new forms of media and it’s content – Web 2.0, trans-media, and the concepts of participatory culture and collective intelligence are all deeply explored from concept to execution. Students search for new forms of communication and understanding between different media sources, the influence of trends, culture and current society,and even more specifically the way we conceive and execute advertising properties.
Anti-requisite: Students who have taken ADVR 4C04 Advertising Thesis Project 2 may not take this course for further credit.
Notes: Students must register in the same SECTION for both ADVR 4C01 and ADVR 4C02 to allow for continuity within the class and both courses must be taken in the same academic year.
Conditions: ADVR 4C02 requires a minimum pass grade of 60%.
Students must achieve a minimum grade of 60% in this course as a condition for graduating.
Should a student be unsuccessful in attaining a 60% average in ADVR 4C02, they will be required, regardless of their mark in ADVR 4C01, to repeat the fall component, ADVR 4C01, as well as the winter component, ADVR 4C02, and its companion course ADVR 4B08.
