| This studio will engage architect Will Alsop as visiting critic/mentor. We will explore both traditional and contemporary notions of community and urban sustainability within city neighbourhoods. Taking one city neighbourhood as a case study, the studio will analyze the defining characteristics, activities, and behaviour of the community with a view to mapping the physical boundaries and limits of the neighbourhood - synthesizing the observations in an urban strategy that will celebrate the sustainability of the neighbourhood. Students will be encouraged throughout the studio to consider alternative methodologies of architectural engagement as they analyze and synthesize their observations and recommendations. |
