COURSE DESCRIPTION

ADVR 4C01
Advertising Concept 5
1.00 Credit(s)
Studio
Prerequisite: ADVR 3B14 Advertising Concept 4/Convergence (minimum grade of 60%)
and 13.0 credits, including all first-year and second-year requirements (10.0 credits)
Advertising Concept 5 presents advanced level projects in studio that explore a new era of advertising thinking and challenge the student to find intersections between new and old media. Though advertising has long tried to incorporate unified messages across multiple media from billboards to television to banner-ads - the rapid growth of digital technology and the degree of interconnectivity it has enabled has dramatically changed the reach and nature of the message. This is an exploration of the Convergence Culture that has begun to dominate the traditional Advertising Agency.
Anti-requisite: Students who have taken ADVR 4C03 Advertising Thesis Project 1 may not take this course for further credit.
Notes: Students must register in the same SECTION for both ADVR 4C01 and ADVR 4C02 to allow for continuity within the class and both courses must be taken in the same academic year.
Conditions: ADVR 4C01 requires a minimum pass grade of 60%.
Should a student be unsuccessful in attaining a 60% average in ADVR 4C02, they will be required, regardless of their mark in ADVR 4C01, to repeat the fall component, ADVR 4C01, as well as the winter component, ADVR 4C02 and its companion course ADVR 4B08.
