Prerequisite: CRCP 2B02 Museums, Galleries and Alternative Spaces and 8.0 credits, including all first-year requirements (5.0 credits)
This course will introduce students to art and design museums and galleries and how they create exhibitions and bring them to public view. The course will examine and analyze the over-arching process, procedures and pragmatics involved in the administration and production of exhibitions and their public reception in public museums/galleries and contemporary art galleries. The course materials will focus on a number of case studies of art and design exhibitions from the conceptual, administrative, and financial level and will investigate the theory and critical practices of museums and galleries and how they have changed and shifted as these institutions have evolved over time.
Notes: Required for Criticism & Curatorial Practice Majors. Priority in registration is given to Criticism & Curatorial Practice Majors
