This intense studio involves students in a variety of drawing processes, media and subject matter. In semester one, observational exercises refer students to historical and contemporary drawing perspectives, stressing the development of perceptual and technical skills. Half of the semester’s curriculum will include working from nude models while introducing contemporary Canadian figurative practices.br In semester two, students continue working from observation, while expanding their understanding of 2D-visualization and pictorial conventions using diverse media including print, digital, and animation processes.br Conceptually based assignments emphasize idea development, drawing’s application to creative practice, and initiate exploration into some current issues in contemporary drawing. |

Notes: This course has material fees associated with it. Students who have taken GART 1C00 Drawing and GART 1B02 Drawing 2 may not take may not take this course for credit. Life drawing from nude models, male and female, is normally required in this course. Individual requests for accommodation based on religious grounds will be considered but accommodation cannot be guaranteed. |
