Graphic Design Workshop 1

Prerequisite: GRPH 3B19 Graphic Design 4 (minimum grade of 60%)
and 13.0 credits, including all first-year and second-year requirements (10.0 credits)
Graphic Design Workshop 1 encourages students to develop individual approaches to design practice. The studio's multi-disciplinary approach integrates research into meaningful design processes, documentation and outcomes. The potential of design-as-inquiry immerses students in critical issues, contemporary expectations and precedents. A combination of in-studio work, critique and lectures help to contextualize design activity at the intersection of personal, societal and professional interests.
Anti-requisite: Students who have taken GRPH 4C04 or
Graphic Design Thesis 1 or
GRPH 4C02 Graphic Design 5 or
GRPH 4K01 Graphic Design Thesis Project 1 may not take this course for further credit.
Notes: Due to course content, it is required that students register with the SAME INSTRUCTOR for GRPH 4C04 and GRPH 4C05 and both courses must be taken in the same academic year.
Conditions: GRPH 4C04 requires a minimum pass grade of 60%. Should a student be unsuccessful in attaining a 60% average in GRPH 4C05 Graphic Design Workshop 2, they will be required, regardless of their mark in GRPH 4C04 Graphic Design Workshop 1 to repeat the fall component of this course, GRPH 4C04 Graphic Design Workshop 1, as well as the winter component of this course GRPH 4C05 Graphic Design Workshop 2. Due to course content, it is required that students register with the SAME INSTRUCTOR for GRPH 4C04 and GRPH 4C05 and both courses must be taken in the same academic year.
