Human Factors for Designers

Prerequisite: 7.5 credits, including 1.0 credit of second-year liberal studies (including 0.5 VISC credit).
This course introduces students to ideas and issues that are important to a contemporary understanding of ergonomics, human factors, and user-centred design. Through a thematic examination of the growth and development of the field, including a wide-ranging review of case studies, the course provides students with a framework for studying industrial and environmental design processes as they relate to the satisfaction of human needs.
Anti-requisite: Students who have taken VISC 2B91: Special Topic in Visual Culture: Human Factors and User-Centred Design in the 2004/2005 academic year, VISC 3B27 or VISD 3B27 may not take this course for further credit.
Notes: This course is also offered as VISD 3B27. You must decide which course category you wish this to be counted towards at the time of registration by registering for either SOSC 3B27 or VISD 3B27.
