Intermedia Studio: Problems in Visual Language I

Prerequisite: SCIN 2B01 or SCIN 2B14 and one of the following Contemporary Issues: Art Today - SCIN 2B09, CRCP 2B01, DRPT 2B13, INTM 2B22, PHOT 2B12, or PRNT 2B25 OR GDES 2B03 Think Tank I: Awareness AND 2.0 credits Liberal Studies and 8.0 credits, including all first-year requirements (5.0 credits)
This intermediate-level studio course focuses on the working theories and practices required to produce/ fabricate artworks that successfully employ a number of media. Students examine case studies and develop a personal language. The course encourages a wide range of practices, from performance- and photo-based installations to representational and object-based sculpture. Gallery and site-specific forms of address are also explored. Students examine, critique and discuss different approaches to problem solving using a visual language.
Anti-requisite: Students who have taken SCIN 3C01 Intermedia Studio: Problems in Visual Language I may not take may not take this course for credit
Notes: Required for Sculpture/Installation Majors. Priority in registration is given to Sculpture/Installation Majors. Register for SCIN 3C02 Intermedia Studio: Problems in Visual Language II in the Winter semester.
