Fibre: Explorations in Paper and Felt

This course is a study of paper making and felt making as alternative approaches to creating fibre art/design. Students will perform in-depth studies of the techniques, discovering the 2 and 3 dimensional potential of these processes to produce a body of work over the course of the term. Paper making will include sheet forming, casting and assemblage and felt making will cover hand and machine manipulation, “nuno” felting and fibre dyeing. The course will be delivered using visual presentations, demonstrations, hands-on production, in-class discussions and one-on- one and group critiques.
Anti-requisite: MAAD 3B37 Investigations Of Non-Woven Structures
