COURSE DESCRIPTION

GART 1B01
Drawing 1
0.50 Credit(s)
Studio
Drawing, while a discipline in its own right, has significant applications in other art forms. This intense studio environment involves students in a variety of drawing processes, media and subject matter.
Observational drawing exercises refer students to historical and contemporary drawing perspectives and stress the development of perceptual and technical skills. Conceptually based assignments emphasize the development of ideas and research. In this context, drawing operates as an expressive vehicle for both the conceptualizing process and sustained communication.
Notes: Life drawing from nude models, male and female, is normally required in this course. Individual requests for accommodation based on religious grounds will be considered but accommodation cannot be guaranteed.
